Myth1- All RAIDs are Redundant-

Although RAIDs come with many advantages, yet not all RAIDS are redundant. For instance, RAID 0 does not include copies of data on different drives and is not redundant. No matter how many drives are assimilated in it, one drive upon failing physically will affect others as well.

Myth2- RAIDs are Perfect Backups-

Many users think that RAIDs are absolute backups too, but that’s not true. If we talk about RAID 5, RAID 6 and mirrored systems, the redundancy they have can lessen the risk of losing data upon a physical failure. If multiple drives collapse at one time, a user can accidentally delete files that can lead to the corruption of RAIDs, or it becomes easy for cyber intruders to leave malicious content that can encrypt the information and your data is lost forever. Therefore, it clearly states that these devices are not backups.

However, many users firmly believe that RAIDs are super secure for data protection. Many tests conducted by the data protection experts have clearly shown how data can be easily lost, destroyed and confiscated even if the RAIDs have inbuilt redundancy.

Myth3- RAIDs can Fail at any Time-

Even in the degraded form, the user can access all his data, carry on with his work and may not even notice any malfunction in the RAID until other drives collapse. Myth4- RAIDS do not need a Backup-

Data can be lost from your hard drives, flash drives, thumb drives, etc. and even RAIDs. Machines cannot be fully trusted with data preservation. Therefore, it is wise to have multiple copies of essential data at various locations, so even if your RAIDs fail, you have a secure copy of your data with you.
