How to Recover Deleted Text Messages From an iPhone
We all have important messages on our phones that we want to keep forever. There are precious messages from long-lost friends or loved ones, as well as important texts that you might need again. You make sure to keep all these messages safe but sometimes, with a few finger swipes, all of your text messages get deleted. This can be a frustrating situation!

The Message app is one of the most frequently used iPhone apps. Often it is seen that iPhone users delete their text messages while cleaning the storage of their iPhone. Also, sometimes, messages get deleted after an iOS update or device jailbreak. Moreover, the phone also has an option to automatically delete messages after a certain period. There may also be some other similar situations where iPhone users may lose their precious iPhone messages.

If you’re also facing this annoying situation, you must be wondering how to recover deleted text messages on your iPhone. The method of recovery usually depends on the situation of deletion. But in most cases, there are four ways to retrieve deleted texts on iPhone:

  • Retrieve from an iCloud backup
  • Recover from an iTunes backup
  • Restore using a third-party app
  • Contact your phone provider

1.Recover deleted texts from an iCloud backup
If you’re lucky to have an iCloud backup of your iPhone, you may be able to recover your messages easily. You can do this by going to the settings app and tapping on your name at the top. From here, you need to click iCloud > Manage Storage> Backup.
Now, if you’re able to locate your old backup, it’s time to restore your iPhone to factory settings. It is noteworthy here to create a backup of recent data that you’ve added after the last backup. Now, restore your iPhone to factory settings and after the usual setup steps, choose the recover your device from an old backup option.
  1. Using an iTunes Backup
Some users don’t back up their data to iCloud. In that case, if you’ve backed up your phone to iTunes on your Mac or PC, there are still chances to get back your lost messages. However, doing this overwrites the data on your phone. To restore your messages, you need to connect your iPhone to the computer which is synced to your phone. Now, go to the iTunes and click on your iPhone icon that appears in the top left corner and select the ‘Restore backup’ option.
  1. Use a Third-Party App
Another option you have is using a reliable third-party app such as Enigma Recovery or PhoneRescue by iMobie. These apps can help you because even after deleting your messages, the code remains in your handset until overwritten. However, there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to recover your deleted messages by using these apps. The best option when you don’t have a backup is using the services of a data recovery engineer.
  1. Contact Your Phone Provider
In the worst case, if you have no backups, you might try your luck with your phone provider. You can log into your online account or contact customer services. There’s no guarantee that you’ll get back your messages but at least you can give it a try.
