  • How do I start a new case?

  • My hard drive crashed. Can my data be recovered?

    Yes, we can definitely try to help you with that. Platinum data recovery has a 95% success rate and our engineers have over 15 years of experience in the field.

     

  • How does the data recovery process work?

    First, please fill out the  request a quote form on our website by providing basic information and details about the specifics of your case. Next, mail or drop off your storage device at a local Platinum Data Recovery lab, whether it be a hard drive, SSD, RAID, flash drive, memory card, or other storage device.

    Platinum Data Recovery offers a free diagnostic and evaluation. Additionally, we have several different recovery options for customers who are in need of emergency or expedited data recovery for a nominal fee. Once we receive your hard drive, our engineers will diagnose the problem and provide you with an estimate based on the severity of the damage and the amount of labor required for the data recovery process.

    Usually within a matter of days, your data will be recovered, and you will become one of our many satisfied customers.

  • How long does data recovery take?

    It depends on the particular recovery service you select and severity of the damage done to your hard drive. Depending on how fast you need your data recovered, we have 6 different types of recovery services, estimated from eight hours to seven business days.

     

  • How much do you charge for data recovery?

    In order to provide you with an accurate quote, our engineers must first examine and diagnose your hard drive to see what we are dealing with. Then we will be able to give you a firm price quote.

    *Economical Data Recovery – A FREE diagnostic provided within two business days after your media device arrives at our office and actual data recovery within an estimated seven business days.

     

  • How do you determine how much it will cost?

    We determine our prices by the severity of damage to your hard drive, the cost of donor parts, and the amount of labor required to get your data back. The pricing is not based on the amount of data you would like to recover or the capacity of your hard drive.

  • Can I cancel the service after diagnostic?

    Absolutely! You can come and pick up your drive from our office or we can ship it to you anywhere in the United States for $20. We ship everything via FedEx Ground and expedited shipping is also available for an extra fee.

  • How do I get the data back once it is recovered?

    Once we have extracted your data from the damaged or corrupted drive, we will transfer the information onto a brand new external hard drive that you can purchase from us or a drive that you have provided.

  • Do you charge extra for transfer devices?

    Yes, unless you provide your own.

     

  • Is everything done locally? Do you have a clean room?

    Of course! We do all of our work on-site and in-house. When you come to our office you can meet with one of our engineers to answer all of your questions. We have the very rare privilege of an ISO 5 Class 100 Clean Room in our laboratory, which also contains all of the data recovery equipment, tools and software needed to get your data back.

  • Is the confidentiality of data maintained during the recovery process?

    Yes, 100% Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure is guaranteed.

     

  • Do you recover Mac and Linux hard drives as well?

    Yes, for no additional fee.

     

  • How does your shipping process work?

    All clients who gave a “go ahead” to recover the data gets a free shipping.  If after the diagnostic results customer would not like to proceed with the data recovery and have the storage device packed&shipped back, there is a $20 flat rate fee. We ship everything through FedEx Ground. Expedited shipping is also available for an extra fee.

  • What will you do with the damaged drive if I don’t want it back?

    We will recycle your drive by removing the inside platters and destroying them physically.
